Medicare Advantage Information.
Just a word of caution about the state Medicare Advantage offering.
I might add that the health care insurance consultant I am using indicated the Advantage plans are very restrictive by region and snowbirds or those that frequently travel need to be cautious.
I checked with my primary care physician's office this morning to determine which of the State's Medicare Advantage plans they would accept. They would take neither of the Humana plans because they will be HMOs. If they were Huma PPO, they would accept them. The Aetna Life Insurance Company offering is also a HMO and subject to further review. It appears they would only accept the United Healtcare Medicare Advantage, if it is comparable to what already exists.
I have sought out a Health Care Insurance specialist to help me through this mess. There may also be issues with leaving the state plan and open enrollment into another plan. All under review and waiting form more answers form the state.
